Updated: Jul 3, 2023

Skin is the largest organ of the body. It is a true reflection of your health. A healthy lustrous skin indicates a healthy body, the glow on your face reflects the good healthy body. And it is true even vice-versa, meaning if you see some changes on your face and body, it might be body's signal to you that something is wrong within.

Recurrent pimples over face could be a sign of hormonal imbalances, like rise in level of male androgenic hormones. Polycystic ovarian disease (PCOS) and hypothyroidism are common causes.

Hypothyroidism - causes dryness of skin and thickening of skin over front portion of legs usually called as myxedema.

Diabetes - patients suffering from diabetes usually suffer from dry skin (xerosis), commonly over legs and could be the cause for persistent itching specially in winter season. Diabetes can also result in stiffness of joints of fingers resulting in prayer sign.

Hairfall - commonly assumed to be due to change in shampoo or climate can actually be due to changes in hormones, stress, decreased level of iron or vitamin D.

Darkening of upper eyelids only could be a sign of hyperthyroidism.
